All attending NOCs unanimously stated they would support another seminar being held in the future and gave the seminar an average ranking of 9.5 out of 10. Delegates spoke positively about the Seminar structure, which combined presentation and breakout groups, giving it an average ranking of 9.3. Looking ahead to the next seminar, NOCs gave their thoughts on future topics to be discussed which included leveraging AI and greater collaboration between NOCs.

During the Seminar, presentations were delivered by the NOCs of New Zealand, Azerbaijan, Portugal, Italy, Brazil and Czechia and breakout groups were also held to give delegates the opportunity to discuss and debate key issues related to digital communicators.

ANOC Secretary General Gunilla Lindberg said:

“The first ANOC Digital Communications Seminar was a great success and we thank all the NOCs for their active involvement and the Czech Olympic Committee, led by President Kejval, for their fantastic hospitality.

The Seminar proved just how much experience and expertise there is within the NOC family, and how we can all grow stronger when we work together. Every NOC is different, but they also share many similar opportunities and challenges. By hosting Seminars like this, ANOC is able to give NOCs the platform to share ideas and exchange knowledge so that they can learn from each other on how to become more effective in digital communications.”

ANOC shared with delegates the ANOC Paris 2024 Social Media Handbook which can be found here and will support NOCs maximise their social media performances.

1 - WHAT DOES IT MEAN TO THE CZECH OLYMPIC COMMITTEE TO HOST THIS SEMINAR?

In hosting this seminar, we are very pleased to build upon our collaboration with ANOC from the organization of the General Assembly in 2017. That event proved to be an excellent tool for sports diplomacy, and we are delighted to showcase the Czech Republic and Prague to additional colleagues from the Olympic Movement.

Digital communication is currently a very hot topic within the sports environment. We are very aware of the way in which the perception of sport has changed in the eyes of the young. How in recent years the method of following sport has changed. If as an Olympic Movement we want to remain relevant for the young generation we must talk to them in their language and using a means of communication they are comfortable with.

Therefore, at the Czech Olympic Committee we have for many years been focussing on this issue in an effort to be leaders in this field of the sports market and thus support athletes and sports associations. I therefore welcome the Association of National Olympic Committees’ “Digital Accelerator Program”, of which this seminar is a part. It was an honour to host it, to welcome colleagues from all over the world, and to exchange knowledge and experience.

2 - HOW IMPORTANT IS IT TO GIVE NOCS THE PLATFORM TO EXCHANGE IDEAS AND BEST PRACTICE IN THIS WAY?

It is absolutely essential. We must give credit to ANOC for taking on the issue of digital communication with such vigour. Every National Olympic Committee is unique and has specific conditions, facilities and culture. We cannot all do exactly the same thing. What works in one country will not necessarily be suitable for another. However, different points of view, topics and ways of expression are very inspiring and can bring new ideas.

3 - WHAT DO YOU HOPE THE CZECH OLYMPIC COMMITTEE WILL TAKE AWAY FROM THIS SEMINAR?

Above all, inspiration and a fresh perspective, as well as new contacts and friendship across the world in an area that is important to us. We know from experience that it is also very important for Czech Olympic Committee staff to be in contact with their colleagues and to see how they deal with the challenges of our activities – in this case the world of digital technologies. Of course, this seminar also provides an opportunity to highlight the activities of our Olympic Committee and to introduce Prague and the Czech Republic as a great host for major events. I hope that all participants found their stay in Prague not just beneficial, but also very pleasant.
